Museum Revitalization: Project 21

Creating a Year-Round Destination for Education & Training in Oshkosh
Since its opening in 1985, the EAA Aviation Museum has showcased unique and personal artifacts that span aviation's history from the very beginning of flight to modern space travel. The Museum Revitalization is an exciting multiphase initiative to transform the museum into a vibrant year-round 21st century education and training destination.
- Project 21: A 30,000 square-foot addition featuring a Pilot Proficiency Center and Youth Education Center
- Phase II: Digital upgrades to create immersive dynamic experiences for exhibits in the main museum
- Phase III: Interactive experience to celebrate the grassroots movement of experimental homebuilt aircraft
Throughout the Museum Revitalization, EAA will create spaces that best curate, preserve, and share these treasures in new engaging and reimagined ways.
Project 21 addresses two of EAA's most important priorities — pilot safety and inspiring the next generation of aviators. The two-story, 30,000-square foot addition located on the south-side off of the iconic Eagle Hangar will feature an innovative Pilot Proficiency Center and a hands-on Youth Education Center.
This phase will be funded through a $5.2 million capital campaign that is currently underway. The goal is to have Project 21 completed and opened to the public by spring 2022.
